Kinda curious, what does take to put an 03+ tranny in a 98?

I was thinking of doing this. From my research I found that you have to change the valve body and then also the wiring harness in the tranny or change to a different PCM

that pnp swap would be needed. and the tranny lines changed. if your doing a hd to a hd swap its all the same. or n/a to n/a.

98 Buick Regal GS, F body brakes, Caddy STS wheels, tinted tails L36 bottom end, lightly ported heads, 1.95 roller rockers, headers, gen 5 N* 3.0 pulley, FSIC, 42 lb injectors, a BrandonHall rebuilt trans, DHP tuned and AEM water/Meth injection https://goo.gl/gpV5kW

id say its worth the trouble for a newer lower mile tranny with a good hardened 4 th hub already installed.

to the op, that 98 tranny, id install a new 4 th hub before it goes in. they all go bad one day. and they only cost like 80 bucks iirc. less then a 100 for sure.

Yeah I was definitely going to replace the 4th Hub if it wasn't hardened already. I knew non-hd wasnt hardened until mid 03 but I didnt know if the HD had hardened 4th's earlier on than 03 or not.

03 and 04 seems to be hit or miss with the hardened 4 th. the 98 HD did not have that upgrade at all.

if you dont know the trannys history its worth checking it out. change if needed.

It only has 89k and it's all been put on by an old lady but I'm still gonna replace it. It's basically right under the side cover and It's gonna be a hell of a lot easier to do when the tranny is outta the car.

Yeah she drove it to church and shopping and that was it. Then somebody t-boned her and totaled the car. She's my neighbor and knows im always fixing cars and asked if I wanted to buy it and fix it. Told her i couldnt fix it cuz the door pillar was crunched but I would buy the tranny. It's got the nice GS spoiler with the 3rd brake light in it if anyone is interested in that.

I grabbed the top swap parts from it incase I ever decide to top swap my GT. I don't have a ton of room in my garage tho so I'm not taking the block. Top swap is better anyways. Higher compression MOAR power. Lol and probably more knock, chipped pistons and broken s#!t.

    L67 Table. Lol.

What axle seals should I go with? National, Timken, or SKF

I've always liked all of them so it's kinda a hard choice.
