Well, its time for me to get a rebuild with all of the problems that I have going on with my transmission. I was wondering if you guys know of a good tranny shop in the NC area or maybe of a larger franchise type deal with stores in different states that you've dealt with? I also looked into the TEP trannys and I think that its the safest bet, but my dad is pretty set on just having me send my car to a shop and not have to deal with shipping and core charges and stuff. My friends dad manages a Firestone and he recommended I go to a Cottmans Transmission place. Me and my dad just don't have the tools to try and do anything like this ourselves.

The "back to basix" trans from TEP has no core, you just have to pay for install at a shop. They run around 1200-1300 I think.

Otherwise you are looking local, like you've already talked about.

I would really like to go with a TEP tranny but my dad doesn't really want to wait for it to ship here and he can be kinda stubborn and says its a bad idea because he doesn't know the guy and can't talk to him in person. Maybe I can convince him because I would feel better with one. Then I just have to find a shop to install it.

Have him call them up. Dave I'm sure can talk to him about it.

where ever you end up...make sure they flush out and flow test the trans cooler lines and core in the rad and reset the transmission adaptive settings.
