07 GP, 168k miles, no mods, original owner. A few months ago started shifting rough. Took to reputable tranny shop & after changing fluid & a solenoid, ended up having transmission rebuilt. The car was fine for a short time then started feeling it was pulling out in too high of gear and threw a code p0741.Took back to shop, again changed solenoid (said he had gotten some bad ones lately). That didn't fix it. He took it back apart & said 1st gear was out so he replaced what he had already done. Still doing the same thing. He has now ordered a new wiring harness but doesn't know if that is the problem. He says if that doesn't fix it, he has a rebuilt trans that he will put in it. I really dont wanna go that route if I can help it. I feel like he has to overlooking something and u can probably tell by this post that I dk a thing about it but any ideas of what could be wrong?

i hate to even tell you this, but when a trans shop rebuilds a tranny, they only fix whats broken, very rarely will the full rebuild kit be used.

example: you take the car in because first gear slips, they change the fist gear clutches and put it back together, thats it. aka ass rape you.

this is more common then you would think.

lets hope the harness fixes you up they can fail.

It was supposed to be a total rebuild but I really have no way of knowing that for sure. The odd thing is before the rebuilb and for a wk or after, there was no code just really rough shifting and it was in all gears.

the only way you know if your standing there watching them, or if you know and trust the guy rebuilding it.

those harnesses can fail, so like i said lets hope that fixes it up for ya. as long as you got the warranty, use it.

Thanks for making us google the issue.

    TCC circuit/whatever stuck on.

This would usually be valve body, harness or the soleniod.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Sorry about making anyone google the issue....I thought anyone who could actually help with the issue would know what the code was.
After 3 weeks and several different stories from tranny shop, got my car back. Shifted great for two days, on 3rd day going up a long hill driving about 45mph, stepped on the gas to pass someone & the rpm's shot up almost in the red, I let off the gas & it shifted but now it has the check engine light on, did the same thing one more time then shifted & drove normally rest of the day. I've really reached the end of my patience with this, gonna take it to get the code read today then I really dk. I feel like I've my $1200 away that I paid for the rebuild and do not want to take it back to same shop. I dont feel like this guy can/will fix it. I'm wondering if there is ANYTHING else that could be going on with the car engine/electrical etc that could cause this issue. Some things the shop guy told me was wiring harness bad, solenoid bad, something plugged in backwards, supposedly fixed all those this last time. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It is not possible from what I've seen to plug something in backwards. The electrical only really reaches one place.

After spending $1200, I'd be back there asking to have it fixed.

This shop has had the car three times now for more than two wks each time with terrible results so i dont think they can/will fix the car right, dk but may be asking for at least a partial refund. But I drove it to work today and after slowing down on a hill, it seemed to go into neutral, rmp's almost in the red, was almost at work at that point (did fine for first 30minutes of drive) and the temp shot up immediately after. Coasted down the hill to work & got it towed to another trans shop. The code is again p0741. It did go into drive for a few seconds when the tow truck arrived. No word yet from new shop.
