The C-clip is attached to the end that is still in the trans. When you get your new CV axle there should be a new clip on the trans. end already. No need to remove the old one from the broken piece.
Yes, it will pop loose from the trans and then when you install the new axle give it a shove inward towards the trans. and it will click into place.
Reread the comments I never once said that. All I said is hes the reason I am into cars.... but thanks for your input :/ im not pointing fingers at who did it im just interested in fixing the car, thanks to everyone and your helpful input. I have an hd axle and diff on the way and will be working on it soon!
The way to fix this.
Drain trans.
Remove rest of passenger axle from wheel bearing
Remove the engine to trans bracket
Disconnect the VSS (sensor on trans cover right by axle)
Remove other two bolts holding cover on trans
Remove cover
With big screwdriver between diff pin and output shaft, give it a whack to seperate it.
Now the diff is in your hand. Either put a new one in or pop the old shaft since it's in your hand.
Reinstall and put in a new axle. While you are at it.. fix the driverside too.
We picked up a trans and diff today, someone want to tell me how we can tell if it really is an hd differential?
