2000 Grand Prix GTP with 145K. When engine is cold tranny shifts fine into all gears, but after 3-4 minutes of the engine running the tranny won't operate in any of the gears including reverse. After almost a minute of cold start you'd hear a whining noise out of the tranny (Listen to the video), at that point car still moves into gears, but shortly after that that's it, engine doesn't even get to be at a normal operating temp and the trans just won't operate. Then you leave the car sit for about 15-20 minutes, I restart it and again it shifts fine for a minute or two and that's it. Oil pump is bad? Torque? Or both ! Here's a video, notice noise starting at 1:15 into the video and it becomes louder. I'd appreciate any and all opinions and advice. Thanks guys. IMG 3003 - YouTube

Agreed on teh something is plugging the filter. If you turn it off, then wait a minute or two..likely it'll work again for a minute. This is confirmation that the filter is being plugged.

Most commonly differential self destruction is the reason behind it..although anything coming apart and ending up in the pan could cause it to plug.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Thanks guys for the advice, I can only hope it's that easy, I'll do that and see what happens. What do you mean by the differential being the problem behind it? Could you explain the relation to it? Like what happens to the differential to cause that? Thanks again guys I appreciate it.

if the filter is clogged up it usually due to a parts coming a part. like gears shredding and letting shards of metal loose in the fluid, the filter picks it up, and it clogs.

when you drop the pan theres a magnet under the filter, if theres metal in the fluid some will be trapped on the magnet. you'll know more once the pan is off.

With abuse and even a lack of abuse.. there is a roll pin on the differential that holds the main pin of the diff in place. That roll pin commonly breaks, when it does..the pin of the diff (holding the gears in place) then moves.. this movement can shave the inside of the diff cover (aluminum) and or start letting bearing pieces from the gears stray into the pan as well. It turns into a fairly bulky mess in the pan. When you start the car and fluid is pulled into the filter..this material starts to clog the filter. When the engine is off, the material on the filter falls off and the filter unclogs. This allows you to have the behavior mentioned.
