Is there a rebuild kit offered for the 4T65E-HD transmission? On rock auto I can only seem to find some for the regular transmission not the HD one.

Really isn't much of a difference.

The only real difference is the differential.

Call TEP and talk, let em now what you want to do, what mods you plan, etc., and I'm sure they'll give you what you need.

But like I said previously, on this I wouldn't venture. I'd just get the tranny all done and call it a day, but to each their own.

    DIY tranny rebuild...
    I wouldn't even though I'm sure I could if I wanted to.

I'd let TEP do it and be happy! They know the tranny's, know what to look for that needs to be replaced/upgraded and will do it right. It's just my $.02

I bet you know "trannys" pretty good too lolololol

God that was too good to pass up lol

But yeah, unless your really mechanically inclined, and know EXACTLY what your doing, then build your trans yourself.... IF NOT, call TEP, and have them build your transmission up..

The difference between the physical transmission from HD to nonHD is the diff, length of output shaft, drive and driven gears along with the proper lube scoop. That's it. Nothing different from a rebuild kit perspective.

If you want to build one, it's not bad. There are a few things I'd suggest you have done for you. Otherwise unless it's a basket case.. basic tools plus a couple of things will get the job done.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Well the knowledge too is helpful which I'm not entirely sure I have. What things do you recommend bill?

Depends on how much you farm out.

I'd automatically suggest having TEP do the channel plate and valve body. Most trans places don't have the tools to put in the fixes/upgrades, TEP does. For what it comes with..it's very reasonably priced.

    Clutch compression tool
input/3rd housing teflon seal resizer - or have TEP do them
An engine stand with a bracket (easy to make if you have a welder handy)
From there it depends if you need to replace bushings etc.

Well don't have a compression tool or welder. And I wasn't necessarily interested in mailing my trans somewhere.

I think I might do the engine build, replace the trans filter, then find a shop to do the transmission (also replace the converter)

I know how to do a trans rebuild, but I hate doing it. Takes me forever and I need a huge space to do it, I'd do it myself if there was no other option. I plan on getting one from TEP when the time comes.
