    Hi all, new to forum, name is Garrett! looking to buy a 08 GXP from an individual, he is second owner bought from local GM dealer w/30,xxx, trans started slipping, GM rebuilt it under warranty around 40-50,xxx miles, has 63,000 on it now, wife driven to work and back.... Should i be afraid of this or does the GM rebuild remedy this problem?? thanks for all feedback

    These trans are glass in the GXP. It should be fine after you install a tranny cooler. There are a few write ups on hot to do this.

    Is there by chance a factory trans cooler? or should i go with a particular aftermarket brand?

    hit the search button on the top of the home screen. it is hard to find but you will notice the magnifying glass. You will find a lot of good info there.

    done some searching, found lots of great information, thanks! Also called the local GM dealer with the last 8 of the VIN, he told me the history of what was fixed ( including trans cooler lines) the service guy told me its common to the radiator on the 08 and that after a rebuild there should be no worries especially after a mild mannered woman has been driving it! haha

    Id still do an after market tranny cooler. If u pay attention to the DIC you'll see the tranny temp get in the 200's with stock radiator. I recommend an after market unit ASAP with the summer here. Recommend goal to keep the temps at is below 190.

    Also a tranny pan drop and install a shift kit will help with prolonging the life of the tranny and when u drop the pan u can see if previous owner was a jerk to the car or not
