My 98 GTP was previously throwing a CEL for P0742 torque converter clutch solenoid. When you would put it into D and take off from a stop, the car would wind out 1st gear till about 4 or 5k RPM... and if you took your foot off the gas it would finally shift into 2nd. Then you could put your foot back in the gas and continue driving. Besides that, the car would also jerk while trying to cruise at a set speed (TCC related for sure right there).
I took the car to a reputable local transmission shop, and he said he was gonna take it apart, then let me know my options. Options as in, if it was worth just repairing the broken stuff or rebuilding the whole thing. After he got it apart he said just to rebuild it. I followed his advice.
After the rebuild, the jerking is now gone and it shifts great in every gear. Except...it seems like after the car gets warmed up after driving a few miles, it continues to wind out 1st gear too long and wont shift into 2nd when it supposed to. It wont shift into 2nd until around 3.5k to 4k rpm. That is the only problem with the transmission. What did this guy do wrong to my transmission while rebuilding it? The transmission has a 2 yr/24k warranty, but if you guys could give me some advice as to what is (or may be) wrong, so when I take the car back to him I can sound like I know what I'm talking about...lol. Thanks guys.
