    Hello all,


    My trans has recently started acting up and I was wondering if there is some impending doom on it. The car shifts fine in all gears in a timely manor, unless i'm close to WOT and it's reaching the higher rpm's. It seems to hit the rev limiter and then jerk (like a manual left in first gear). It only seems to do it in first gear and it's not every time.


    It does it when it's hot and when it's cold. It would shift hard into 2nd (it would rattle everything pretty good) under the same throttle % as described above. So in my mind one has lead to another. Hopefully my heavy foot hasn't caused a major problem as it's a daily driver and I'm a poor student.


    I've been reading about a solenoid that could be an issue that would have caused the hard shifting. Just wondering if anybody has had a similar experience or could offer their opinion as to what needs to be done.


    Also, a few things:

    Trans fluid hasn't been changed since I have owned this beauty, around 20,000 km since I bought it in 2011. No record of it being previously changed by past owner either and it didn't come with the book. The trans fluid seems to be kind of a dull orange/red colour, but doesn't seem to have any metallic specs in it.

    Can't hurt to change the fluid and filter and put a bottle of Lucas in it

    Thanks, anybody have any idea's of the root cause? I'm guessing a clogged filter but i'm not quite sure

    Take a look at tripleedgeperformance.com and see the bang shift or bang start info.
    I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

    I didn't find any information regarding a band shift or bang start on that website
