I recently purchased a 97 Buick Park Avenue Ultra with the 4T65E-HD transmission. I purchased the car knowing it had a bad trans. Today I went to move it. It started up fine and I put it into Drive. When I gave it a little gas, it felt like the torque converter was slipping and not locking up. The car wanted to move and in reverse I got nothing either. I can get a trans with 100, 000 miles for about $300 from the salvage yard, but I want to make sure it's just not a smoked torque converter. And where would be my best option to get a new torque converter?

Did you try getting the car to move in 1 and 2?

Yes. No luck. In Drive under part throttle I'd get a very VERY slight lurch. Kinda like when you have the parking brake set on a fwd car and you get in and try driving it. It rocked forward about an inch, if that. Then tried reverse....nothing. same with 1 & 2. Going to try again tomorrow after work with 1 as my first try.
