    Hello all,
The other night I raced a friends car...(yes i know it was a dumb thing to do/ And yes im a dumb teenager). But anyways the day after, i noticed my tranny was having an issue shifting. Its actually quite hard to explain aka why i took a video of it. The best i can explain is from a stop it has a hesitation in acceleration. The Rpm's go up but car wait waits to move. And after it does start getting up to speed it rattles the whole car at around 2500 rpm. Now I Have no clue of what is wrong which is why I need your guys help so badly. Im a broke college kid and I'm hoping you all can help. My last resort is to take to a shop, but hopefully that can be avoided.

Appreciate anyone who throws in input!

    ****EDIT***
I would like to say please disregard the rattle/vibration/shaking thats in the first video. its non problem related... it was just my bald tires loosing grip. With that said i have made a new video to demonstrate the issue better. The best i can describe it, the engine revs up but the car hesitates to move.

I wonder if the car will do the same thing if you have the shifter in 1st gear manually, because then it will bypass the forward band.

Thought the same thing... Tried it. Still shutters/ rattles the car ONLY SOMETIMES at around 3500-4000 rpm. But then shifts smoothly into second.

Has the car thrown any codes or codes stored in the pcm? Currently I'd be leaning more towards a seal that has finally failed.

Forgot to ask but what are the mods on the car?

If you are talking about history codes... Then sadly not. I actually will attempt to go see if there are any tomorrow. But otherwise nothing but that pesky emissions/evap code.

Vibrations strictly speed related? Under moderate to heavy throttle do you still experience the same vibration?

Still wouldn't explain the delay from a stop....which is commonly the worn inner surface of the input clutch piston.

Ill be honest with you... i have been panzi footing around. im honestly scared to try to moderate to heavy throttle. But if remember once driving today i did go moderate throttle, and the vibration was longer and stronger. I think it was around 4500 rpm. if needed to be, i will go for a run to confirm. I can tell you have a high knowledge base and it would be worth it to give you more detail.

Not need to go romp on it or anything like that. I'm talking 50% throttle.

FYI....just wait for BillBoost37, Anthony Smith, or TrannyMan95 to hop into the convo....those are a few of the ppl know their way around trannies I'm just the average weekend mechanic.

Haha of course not. but 50% percent seems reasonable. Well i hope so lol. I would call myself the below average driveway mechanic. The hardest task i have done on my car is front wheel bearings... which werent the hardest. I skipped out on doing power steering line. This time around though... looks like imma have to try my best to fix on my own.

*Edit i was thinking/considering doing a tranny fluid flush... to see if that would help.*

DO NOT DO A FLUSH, IT WILL NOT SURVIVE. drop the pan and change the filter at most. but in your case a fluid change just may be a waste of money due to maybe having broken hard parts.

    *bump*

    still need help /:
Update: Dropped the pan last night, replaced filter( it was indeed dirty), put new fluid but still have same issue... friend is suspecting torque converter dying/ i agree but by some mild research maybe could be Input Clutch piston.

    Please if needed rewatch video!

at the end when you got on it some, it looks like it may be slipping, not sure tho. i cant feel it from a vid.

on a side note.....hows your brake pedal feel? is it soft and mushy? i ask this cause every time you got on it the brake light went on. most of the time this means your out of brake fluid in the master res. maybe have a leak, or the pads are are real low and need to be changed.

I hate to sound dumb... but how is slipping supposed to feel like? based on your description i can tell you if its doing it or not.

Nah its all good, was just low on fluid. This tranny issue is really starting to bug me though.

some times they shake a bit, and some times its smooth slipping. but either way you can just feel its not hold the gear. like it should be taking off faster then it is.

I would classify it as a smooth slipping then. no shakes or rattles and or harsh shifts. Just bog on launch from first gear and into second. Once its in second the rest of the gears shift fine without slip. Well except if you give 50%+ throttle in second then it revs about a 1000 rpm plus before shifting into third. no problems from start when shifted manually from 1-2, but +1000 rpm issue when shifted 2-3 manually.

Im sorry about my descriptions not being the best... Im really trying my best to give you the greatest description i can. The average shop quote just to diagnose trans is $100+ and i for sure dont have that -_____-.

i'm gonna put my money towards the forward band. Seems like it may need adjusted or it is breaking.

Im considering getting a flush seeing as dropping the pan didnt help before jumping to that big of an issue.

Wont move in D or 3 only

According to this the forward band scenario doesnt add up because the car moves fine after 1st gear /: Plus when i dropped the pan it was clean.

You already done more than a flush could ever... Sure all the fluid doesn't come out when you drop the pan, but a flush won't help a bit. Just sayin...
