possibly buying a built trans from zzp. Are they good ? i will be going with the 300m input shaft , pump shaft , 2:93 single gear upgrade , aluminum trans pan , 3000 stall , and there stronger output shaft. Is there anything else i should get ? i have a 99 GTP with a z7 turbo get on it. hopefully making somewhere around 400-450whp. thanks -Tyler

Have you talked with Dave at Triple Edge Performance yet?

I'd reccomend him over ZZP first. But that build list sounds pretty good if you ask me.

Technically it's not ZZP that builds them, IIRC it's Certified Trans. They appear to do a good job. I'd question that output shaft, if that's the gun drilled. Definately get a 300M input, not a 4340. On the gear set. Which chain 7/8 is known to stretch, 15/16 is known to snap.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Haha, this made me laugh pretty good.

The 7/8" is about the only option that you have at this point unless you're willing to shell out the extra for ZZP's 1" solution (which doesn't fit their 300m input shaft ) The 7/8" will hold the 400-450whp that you're hoping to make. The amount of stretch is heavily dependant on driving style, running drag radials, slick, and track passes......With having said that the 7/8" is considered a "wear" item and WILL ultimately stretch over time at that power level. The 2.93 gear ratio has been shown to be the best option for the turbo cars.

Skip the aluminum pan and just get a good transmission cooler. I didn't mess with the output shaft either.....I'd only worry about upgrading that if I planning on launching the car at the track.

Also would HIGHLY recommend talking with Dave at TEP

Well maybe tell about your cars setup and what your looking to do with it.

He can help you decide whats best to put in the trans and give you information and such, aswell as a build price.

Personally I skipped the output shaft because I don't plan on ever running slicks on the car. Yes the output shaft can break but only under extremely hard launches. Chances are that if your car isn't gutted and trying to dip into the 10's or pulling some crazy low 60' times that you're not going to come close to snapping an output shaft. Spend the money in other areas that will help with the longevity of the trans.
