Our GTP was making the loud humming whining I mean like the supercharger sound and rough shifting, looked like classic pressure control solenoid. I told my family but people still drove it anyway without fixing it, and now it always whines when driving it sound like it gonna explode almost, but it never does. Not sure if overdrive is working.

Just curious, did it ruin the transmission or is it still just a matter of switching a PCS or valve body?

Did you at least check the fluid level? If it's whining, it might be low on fluid / pump is starving.

Whining isn't a typical symptom from what I've heard for a PCS. It's either the trans having trouble pulling fluid due to it being low or the filter clogged, or it's the stator bearing.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

I'm going with stator bearing as my guess.

Thank you everyone for your opinions. I will check the fluid and report back.

I have never heard of a starter bearing, except in the starter which is only used just to start the car. I will look it up....

    Stator and starter are different.

The stator bearing in the trans is the main bearing that the input shaft goes through. The stator support (outer section of it) is where the TC is held up as it puts power to the input shaft. Unfortunately you aren't changing that w/o disassembling and likely rebuilding the rest of the trans.

A fluid based whining, say from a clogging filter, loosely fitting filter (in the collar) or low fluid it much easier to fix. You can do all of them with a simple transmission service of filter, collar and or just fluid.

I have a slight wine, believed to be coming from the PCS. I installed a shift kit about two years ago, and all is good. The wine is still there, but transmission performance hasn't changed (that I can tell).
