so i finally took my car to a trans shop, the problem i had was getting unbearable. The shop i took it to is owner operated and the guy has been doin trans work for over 20 yrs...to the point,i just wanna get ur 2 cents before i have anything done...basically he said the p1811 code means nothing to him...i dunno if u remember my problem or not ive spoked to u on here several times about what it was doing.some days on a cold start i put it in reverse then drive and it lags really bad, rpms dont jump too high.but it feels like it doesnt wanna go.i let off gas for a second or two then its fine...then after around town driving for any length of time,it shifts hard into almost all gears also sometimes when i get on the gas a lil bit thers a noticeable vibration that i feel in the gas pedal.my fluid isnt burnt and theres no metal in pan.The owner of the shop says hes 75% sure its the epc solenoid...said he he will swap out with a borg warner solenoid for 275.00...in ur opinion do u think this will fix my problem? also u had emailed me saying that it could b input shaft is the reason im getting lag on a cold start...dont think im doubting u,but this guy said i would def have metal in pan if it was input shaft,is this true?...im clueless when it comes to transmissions.

For $275 its hard to say no to that!!! Most shops want well over $500 for just labor and I frequently hear of people paying upwards of $1100 just to replace the solenoid. The solenoid is the #1 cause to the harsh shifts after the trans warms up and I cant argue that and that is the same thing I advise people of when the have your problems. I think you mixed up what I told you about the car not wanting to take off. The input shaft is not a concern, it is the input clutch piston. Almost every one is bad when I tear a trans down and this will not put metal in the pan and there is no way to find this other than to tear the trans down, but that means you have to be prepared for a rebuild and not just cross your fingers and hope it is your problem. Also from the factory there are short style lip seals on this piston which can also cause problems as they age and the aftermarket seal kits include a long style lip seal to help with this problem. I am not going to argue at all with what he is telling you, but if your engagement problem is not any better than you know what the next step is.

Thanks again for your quick response,im gonna go with the swap and go from there.i dug up that old email you sent me and u did quote the input piston.im hoping that the solenoid is the culprit of all my problems.Keep in mind theres some days it drives fine with no problems at all.Correct me if im wrong, but if it was a hard part malfunctioning wouldnt i have the problem all the time? As for the 275.00 for swap, the owner of the shop is friends with a friend.so im gettin "the friend deal"

also would a bad input piston give me a nasty vibration in the gas pedal on medium throttle?

Nope that is the TCC solenoid in your cav, and $325 especially where you are at is very reasonable
