So I was driving and had to come to a complete stop cuz some **** tard in from of me was driving like an idiot. When I when to accelerate again the car kind of jerked and i think i heard a little pop noise. I kept driving. I stop at walgreens as I'm pulling out the car went in reverse fine so I didn't think much of it. Try to put it in drive and nothing happens. I put it in first and it slips a bit at first but will move. Same with 2nd and 3rd. Is my tranny completely shot?

I wonder if the forward band just took a dump.

That might be it because I found this thread http://www.grandprixforums.net/trans...dles-8780.html

And he describes pretty much my exact issue. My fluids are fine. So I guess the only way I can know is to drop lower pan and find out. I'm not too well versed in transmissions so I'm a little concerned but I need to know. Any ideas on what replacing this would cost me if I didn't do it myself?

Would it be safe for me to drive it like a stick shift until I get it fixed? Going from 1st to 2nd and so on or should I not risk it?

It may last for a little while, who knows. If the band is broken, I don't think you'll have much past 2nd gear.
