Auto Zone tranny filter??? made in mexico...
Theres some talk on zzperformance.com about the "thin" chinese filter other performance vendors supply compared to their usa made filter...
Does everybody just run the autozone mexican filter ?(or other autoparts store cheap filter)
I'm thinking about doing the shift kit from ZZP, which would include a filter, but pretty sure my tranny has 170,000 miles on it w/o any service... so a shift kit might just put her over the edge.
It isnt slipping or anything, actually has pretty nice firm shifts that pull nicely in performance shift and the shifts not in PS are really smooth.

    So 2 questions I guess;
Think I'd be alright running a shift kit in it until nov/dec when i get tranny rebuilt w/hard parts, a few other upgrades and 3.29 gears? or just let it be until I get the rebuild? (I'd like to have a little tiny bit of cred on the sweet tranny I'm going to have lol)

If I decide not to do the shift kit, and for future reference; Would ordering a filter from ZZP be very beneficial or is the AZ mexican filter good?

    Thanks for reading.

    ZZP shift kit = crap.

Trans go or intense shift kit only.

Buy a filter from napa or autozone. I run a napa filter, works great and I dont care where its made, it was new.

I went trans go. Its good for the price and if you read on Triple edge performance's website it tells you some problems it can help with.

The intense kit will be more harsh, but its really not that bad, some say its more harsh/snappy when getting on it but calm around town.

Yeah see T3P is where I thought it said the ZZP kit was pretty decent. I think I'll go with the intense kit since i plan on doing a rebuild soon and thats the real reason I'm doing the build on my tranny. I wanna get those neck breaking shifts into second and third
my buddy has a 1971 Olds 442 all original w/455 in it and i just loooove the shift into second, people always go "sounds like the tranny doesn't like second?" replies: "Nope, she LOVES it" that's what I want dumasses that ride in my car to say. hahahaha

I run the cheap az filter. 221k miles on original trans. Thrasher shift kit helped a lot. Shifts to 2nd are fun

Yeah thats what I'm takin bout
I wanna puuuullll when I shift into second, especially once I do the cam, headers and tranny build. It'd be nice to now a little bit harder though, spank on the stupid maxima that drives around here thinkin he's hot **** (already did twice but he needs to see my taillights disappear quicker) LOL

My buddy said once he put the thrasher kit in w/HAI, headers, the 3.5 MPS and a halfassed tune he could get extremely loose into second @WOT???

I think he was BS'n... he was maybe runnin 230whp after seein some dyno results on here. I believe they'd chirp but no 8 foot skid marks like he claims.lol

i have the thrasher too. but i dont have any engine mods really. so stock engine with the thrasher kit makes the tires chirp haha. if you have some good engine mods for some good power yeah im sure you can lay down a good amount of black marks on the road shifting to second haha

You sound lucky to me wstorm you sure there isn't a l67 head on there?lol
Just kinda crazy to think a basically stock n/a 3800 will chirp into second with only a shift kit. Although you do have a better tranny than me being I have a 97 and yours is a 05, condition of your parts and your gear ratio are better for that shift(please correct me if I'm wrong someone w/experience here, from what I understand I would gather it would be better as far as the amount of torque produced @ that shift w/3.29 gears), but still, that excites me even more, and I'm gonna make my buddy's dad put one on his 05 gt2 and see if he gets same results on his beaten on tranny.lol. Might steer him towards a transgo since its not as "wild" just cuz it slips ever so slightly occasionally but still I wanna see that.

Dan do you know if that zzp 1.0 pcm changes your line pressure at all??
I thought I read not to change that and do a shift kit w/o upgrading hard parts??
If I read that right and the zzp 1.0 changes line pressure then you are living proof that statement isn't always true drivin that 221k mi young tranny.lol
If I can't find someone to tune me before I get hp I might go that route and i probably won't do a kit if it does increase line pressure (or completely get rid of torque management like the beginning of the first time use of hp thread on here lol) just to be safe rather than sorry I think though either way.
Idk tho I may have a "97 w/ a harder input shaft" so I might be able to run both
If it actually has been serviced a time or two in its 170k mi life and this theory is true then I'd be set for both hahaha

The zzp pcm does up the line pressure. my trans slipped pretty good when I got the car and its fine now so long as I'm in ps mode
