    Why would you want to?

The ONLY thing different is the gear ratio and HD diff.

    Re-read this.

Everything inside the trans is exactly the same for the most part, both can handle the same power. And both will break with enough power.

If your going to beat the trans like it owes you money everytime you drive it, buy a built trans that can take the abuse.

The "tranny guy" doesnt know what he is talking, nor does like anyone that can hold a wrench and count to 12.

The trans will hold up fine (should), if you beat the **** out of it all the time and treat it like crap, it'll die a quick and painful death.

You got some reading ahead of you yet for facts and info about transmissions and "top swaps". Lucky you though, this forum is full of info, you just gotta find it.

yeah i mean your trans will be fine. if you want to change the gear ratios so you get more torque you can do that. its not going to make your trans last any longer it would just be so u get more torque.

    Huh? More torque?

The gear ratio 3.29 in GT's, they say is better for faster accel, and 2.93's get slighly better MPG's, but really its not that big of a difference.

shift kit engages the clutch faster making your shift times faster and it lengthens the life of your clutch. the shifts will feel firmer, and if you get a shift kit that makes them really firm (Thrasher shift kit, i have it) your tires will chirp shifting from 1st to 2nd at WOT its pretty cool haha. thrasher shift kit is $100. and while you do that you might as well change the trans filter cuz you have to drop the pan. so that will add up another $30 for a filter kit with the gasket for the pan. and then you have to put transmission fluid in there. if you just put new fluid in there (im guessing you did since you just had work done on your transmission, and if thats the case you might have just done the filter too) just reuse it. other shift kits like transgo, which arent as firm as thrasher, cost around $60.
