okay so, i JUST changed the MASS sensor in my car about a week ago, because it went bad and was making my GT shift really funny (its an automatic)

well today i was driving the car and i started to notice that when i speed up it shifting funny again. This time its different, its much much much harder to notice then when the sensor went out, its like a very very light jolt feeling that I am feeling when the car shifts, and it makes a very quiet clicking sound.

In fact its SO hard to notice that I had to shut everything off and roll up the windows for my boyfriend to hear it, but once he did he said it wasn't normal. (his car knowledge is slim though)

my dad said that with as many miles as the car has feeling it shift isn't really a big deal, and that i shouldn't worry about it. It has 120,000 miles on it.

I recently have had the MASS changed, transmission serviced, serpentine belt changed, new brakes, and all of the sunroof and door drains blown out to make sure it wasn't causing any leaks.

anyway i'm really stumped and really nervous about this repair.

OH, and when the sensor went out I had the transmission checked thinking that was the problem (before i read the code) and they said it was perfectly fine...then again, not sure if i can trust them, but I was told the car was in peak running condition, especially sense the sensor is such a minor repair.

get back to me please. please please please

The MASS air flow sensor (MAF) was changed out?

If they looked at the transmission or serviced it, they probably either put new fluid in or added fluid. I wouldn't worry if your car is shifting a little harder or if its making a slight click every shift. If it's not normal shift points and if the shift is sluggish, then I'd worry. Harder shifts sometimes are better for your automatic tranny.

Relax and start trusting your car a little more!! lol jk

Well based on what you are saying in your post, its either as FoSHO99 stated and probably nothing to worry about, or it could also be the throttle position sensor since the computer uses information from that sensor as well for shifting. If that is not it, and the issue remains, it is likely internal to the transmission.

I'll move this over to the transmission section so our very own Transmission expert, Trannyman95, might see it and offer some input when he can.

These transmissions are 100% electronically controlled and the only way to verify that they are operating correctly is to have it diagnosed with a scan tool and a thorough road test. You can feel something that isnt right and there is always a cause for it but without a proper diag it is near impossible to know the cause. Very often these transmissions have a failing pressure control solenoid-this is a solenoid inside the transmissions that controls line pressure based on what the computer tells it to do, but needs to be determined if the computer is commanding the harsh shifts or the solenoid is at fault. The computer or PCM takes all of the input information from engine sensors and calculates how the transmissions should work from these inputs. As you noticed the MAF sensor being bad caused problems and has a large impact on line pressure. There is no reason to rule out that it could be at fault again and wouldnt hurt to have it checked. Most MAF sensors are reman units which are nothing more than cleaned and tested used sensors with a reman sticker on them and unfortunately the environment that they are tested in is not the same as driving down the road in your car so though they may test good on the bench they may not work properly in the car or can fail under certain conditions such as high temps or humidity. Does the car behave differently under cold or hot conditions? I would definately have the car diagnosed again by someone who is knowledgeable with these transmissions and if they arent doing a thorough road test with a scan tool then they dont know what they are doing. Driving around the block with no equipment and trying to say something is wrong is bad information you cant trust.

wow, thanks for your help. Acctually I made sure that I bought a brand new MAF instead of a factory rebuilt one, and it came with a life time warranty. I literally changed the sensor DAYS ago though.

and as for the weather conditions making it act different, its really hard to determine because i live in a climate that is always 80 degrees outside.

Now when i would run the engine for a few hours and then the car would heat up in the sun the MAF sensor would go crazy, but ever since i changed it it hasnt done that.

today when i got in my car to go to work, it only did the strange gear shifting click once. Then when i got in my car to go home it didn't do it at all.

I have noticed that it does it only when its shifting gears in lower speeds, and in higher speeds it doesnt do it.

oh, and to answer the question above, when they serviced the transmission they had to drain over 7 quarts of fluid that was brown. I know the drained it by hand because i watched them do it, im pretty sure they didn't use a transmission machine.

    Thanks for the replies guys.
