Thread: Just Ordered Transmission Cooler and TRANSGO Shift Kit (UPDATED!)

It is a blend.

Dexos-1 is a blend too.

Okay Guys, i just spent the afternoon slowly installing the TransGo Shift Kit and what can I say other than AMAZING!
I shifts perfectly now, be aware that i already have the pressure turned up w/ my TRIFECTA Tune so I didnt want something that was neck snapping... but like most others have reported, the car upshifts quick and efficently, like it did with the tune, and to be honest it was pretty good factory.

Downshifts are the huge surprise here though, it is amazing when going from 3rd gear to 1st! Almost instantaneously! Its smooth, fluent, responsive, and a number of other similar adjectives.

The install and fluid change wasnt bad either, this was my first time ever preforming a fluid change on a transmission but i am not opposed to getting greasy.

1) Pan drop was as simple as it gets... just tedious with the number of bolts.
2) Draining the fluid from the pan was pretty simple, just used the tips from other members and worked my way from one side to the other to make as little mess as possible.
3) I used the "How-To's" from a variety of sites to help make take the correct 4 bolts out to drop the accumulator.
4) The 3 metal lines were a little tricky, the shortest one was easy, but struggled a bit with the last 2.
5) The Transmission filter was a ***** to wiggle out with the oily hands.. but straight forward.
6) After dissemblance of the accumulator, and taking out the piston/springs, the directions that TEP provided were pretty easy to follow.
7) Hooking it all back up was easy and the car took 8 quarts of the fluid and was happy.
8) Took it for a spin around with a grin on my face

Which shift kit did you order (it looks like they offer 2 kits)? Does the kit come with a filter and gasket?

I did just a fluid and filter change and my pan is now back on, but I think I am going to pull the return line and do the converter fluid change too. I should have done the shift kit while I was at it. I looked again at TEP and it looks like the regular kit they sell is just the shift kit, and then they sell a shift kit combo that sounds like it also includes the filter and some other gaskets.

The kit should also prolong the life of the trans, correct? How long does it typically take to install the kit after the pan is dropped?
