    I have a 2000 grand prix gt,
i was driving home the other day when someone stopped me and said I was spilling oil everywhere!

I pulled over and had it towed home I look under it and find a cracked Tranny! It looks like its a separate case on the passenger side where the cv joint goes in. The only problem is I also found a gear laying on the frame. Is it possible the I can just change that piece out or oes it sound like trannys shot? It still shifts and runs fine

It's just a diff and diff cover.

Diff pins let go and then it gets ugly. After that the diff cover usually breaks.

You can change the diff and diff cover and be all set after a pan drop/filter change. The diff is the last thing before the filter, so the filter should have saved the trans from getting material all through it. Likely your pan will be pretty full.
