Just bought another Grand Prix and I am having issues with the transmission, obviously why I posted here! Anyway, it slips and hard shifts no matter the temp and shutting it off doesn't help. I am getting no engine light, nor are there any stored codes. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

Could be your PCS(Pressure Control Solenoid). Read up on some of the horror stories behind that.

When you are trying to read it, have you already turned it off and then tried to grab the codes? Most trans codes won't kick the CEL on and reset with the ignition switch. I often suggest, getting the trans to behave badly and not shutting off the car before reading the codes.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

It acts up all the time, not just here and there so there is no getting it behave badly, lol!

U mean without turning the car on? Negative, dont own a scan tool, although we should with the amount of cars we have owned over the years!

So, just to clarify a Lil more, it slips upon take off, like driving a manual transmission and slips at each gear change, finally slamming hard into gear once engaged. Doea this upon immediate start up.

Drove it a bit this morning, which hadn't really been done starting from cold, usually we let it run a bit first. Anyway, while it was still cold it ran fine, and did not start acting up until it got warmer, also, it seemed if I started off from a stop really slow, it didn't slam into gear as hard.

Here is my post from a few days ago, we drained the tranny fluid, fluid was really dark and stinky! There were no shavings in the pan, not even one tiny spec, which I am assuming is a great thing! Anyway, so now after taking it on a test drive, or five, we have gotten rid of all the upper gears hard shifting issue and only the hard slam from a dead stop to start moving when it goes into first gear! Anyone have a clue what this could be? I am so loving this car ad plan on selling my Trans Am so we can keep this one! Hopefully! Even put some new shoes on her today!

As always, any help or suggestions are always very much appreciated! Thanks for all the help in advance!

Check the fluid level. If you don't have enough fluid it can't build up pressure...until it finally does and it slams.

Double and triple checked! Idk, what is going on. It acts up strangely and differently every time we drive it! Frustrating!
