    Ok, to start off..

2000 Grand Prix GTP with 3.8 and S/C

I get the P0717 code. I can clear the code and baby the car, but as soon as I apply enough pressure to the gas pedal (moderate accelleration) i get the Check Engine light to come on and blink (while it's happening) and then sometimes stays on (as a stored code) One after noon, i noticed it blinking while it was happeneing, and then saw the light actually turn off after it was finished blinking.

I also get a another code, I can't remember the number, but i do remember that it's a cylinder 3 misfire. I get no other codes at all.

I believe one end of the wiring harness comes up to the diagonal black bar in the engine compartment on the driver's side. i disconnected that connector, and tried to get a resistance reading off the S and V pins of the female connector with no luck.

After reading some other posts, my diagnostics should be...
1.) check continuity in the circuit (I attempted, but might be doing it wrong)
2.) check the continuity of each of the two wires in the harness
3.) check voltage in pins with key on, but car not started
4.) check sensor resistance at connector on tranny
    5.) replace sensor

Does this sound like the right way to approach this?

Not sure but I've heard that shift kits help "fix" transmission codes.

First...we list the code so no one has to guess at the code

    P0717 Input shaft no signal:
This can be a bad sensor, bad wire leading to the sensor and at worst...an input shaft reluctor that came off the drive gear. Last one..you'd hear.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Kinda depends on what the problem is. I'd diagnose and then suggest fixing the problem.

If you did the sensor and harness, then you lower the drivetrain etc, do the work and what if the problem is a backed out wire in the pcm side of the connector? Then your problem isn't fixed.

so in waiting till i can get the car into my friend's car to look at...

I picked up the iss just in case it was the issue, i wouldn't have to wait to get one in.
While I was there, i picked up plugs, wires, and an air filter.
When my wife brought the car home from work, I did a quick change then took the car for a test drive.

    HOLY COW ARE GTP's FAST!!!!!!
the P0303 Cylinder 3 misfire went away (well, i cleared it, and it never came back)
the P0717 Turbine Input Sensor A No Signal went away (well, cleared it, and it never came back)

I bought the car last week, so i never expierenced the GTP with boost. Holy crap am i glad i got this car. : )
as a side question. It's a white 2000 GP GTP Sedan with 110k miles. I picked it up for $3400... good? bad? body's in good condition.

    Hopefully bosch works.

I normally dont ever run them. Autolite copper core are better IMO, and if staying stock the $5 iridiums are best.

Also one thing to note, in case you havent read this yet, but copper core plugs will only last around 13-15k miles. So changing them more often is just part of the game.

good to know, i thought the iridiums for some reason were the short life ones. i got it backwards.
if the copper are short lived.. any benefit to them, or are they just cheap?
