Ok I got my trans rebuild done by a local shop. Horrible experience. They Had the car for two weeks then wanted to charge me extra because of their mistakes. Got the car back today and the airbag light is on. Any reason why? I'd rather not take it back because of the crappy shop owner and fear of me not having my car for two weeks. Any ideas people?

im having the same problem, http://www.grandprixforums.net/air-b...ill-60195.html

what i do know is if the steering wheels radio controls don't work it could be the clock spring under the steering wheel, it powers the radio and air bag.

you have a module under the front pass seat remove the seat, and under the rug in the box you will see in the rug, remove it if its got corrosion on it where it screws to the floor, remove it and sand it clean, if you can open yours ( some dont open) open it and check for more corrosion inside. put it back in. under the drivers seat, there could be a yellow plug, open the plug and clean the connections. under the dash behind the drivers side knee bolster is another yellow plug its for the clock spring, open and clean it.

unhook your battery before you do any of these suggestions.

i've done all this, plus changed my clock spring, and the damn light is still on.

not sure if the trans job has anything to do with the airbag light.

If they dropped your power steering rack (shouldn't have to) and the wheel turned..they may have killed the clockspring. Also most of the time you need a Tech2 etc to reset the airbag stuff.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Ok, I've tried everything else (not that much really to try without the tech 2)
Does autozone have tech 2 scanners? How much is the clock spring? Hard to replace?

clock springs not to bad, you need to remove the steering wheel, then the plastic trim around the column its sits right under the wheel but the trim needs to come off for it to clear. there is a snap ring around the shaft, remove it. and it slides off. and you also need to remove the trim under the column and knee bolster to clip the zip ties and remove the wires for the clock spring, it plugs in under the dash by the obd port. its the yellow plug.

if you have radio controls on the wheel you will have 2 sets of wires to unplug top and bottom of the column.

unhook your battery before starting, as you will be removing the air bag, and you dont want anything funny to happen. like pop!

i have a friend i used to work with, he now works at a local garage, they have a 7,000 dollar scanner (what he told me) he used to scan my my car for abs codes. he said normally they charge 75 to scan but i got lucky, free scan.

body shops and your better repair shops will have this scanner as well if you know some one or even just call around and ask if they will do it, never know one may say they'll do it for free or real cheap.

clock spring new is almost 250, so used is a good option, they seem to run 40 to 60.
