Thanks everyone for the info! I really appreciate getting some advice & support. I hope I don't need a new transmission. I know they probably won't do that for me since it's not under warranty. I haven't noticed any slipping. At least I don't think that's what it is. I do notice if I romp on it a little, the tires vibrate between gears. Is that slipping? Hope that isn't a stupid question... I'm a pretty softspoken person, a female, & blonde, all which work against me when negotiating in situations like this. The more information I go in there with tomorrow, the more confidence I'll have at least in knowing what I'm talking about. So, really, I appreciate all this advice sooo much!

i have done some research alot of people have hit 210-230 degress in there tranny being in texas and other places and have seen it like this for years, and there has been alot of good feedback with people and gxps getting a tranny cooler, one member ( gpona ) has done many of passes on the track with his tranny cooler and has never seen it get hot. u best bet for total protection, tranny cooler, shift kit, and a tune for more pressure in the lines, and it will give u fermer shifts. hopefully ur temps will lower after the cooler.

I'm pretty sure it's been tuned. I am going to show my stupidity here, but the car came with this thing they told me was a high performance tuner. They (the dealership) couldn't tell me much about it, & I had no clue. I understood after briefly talking to the previous owner, it had to do with air/fuel mixture.. Is that what you're talking about? That is next on my list to research... I still have much to learn about my new car. I just hope no real damage has already been done to the transmission or anything else. Hopefully the dealership will be able to tell me that tomorrow & they will at least service the transmission for me, since they sold it to me with obviously burnt fluid. I smelled something wrong from day one, test driving it, but wasn't sure what I was smelling, and they acted like they didn't really notice it. Then, I will get the cooler put in asap. I will look into the shift kit next. Thank you!

do you have a picture of the "tuner"? this might be the reason that it has new motor. someone screwed it up and caused it to run too lean.

I will get a picture of it. The guy who owned it before me used it after the motor was replaced, if I understood him right. What happened was something to do with piston seals going bad (I think.) Then the oil gauge kept showing low oil, but not on dipstick (if that makes any sense.) The dealer told the guy that the oil gauge was wrong. Turned out it wasn't, & the car ran out of oil & threw a piston"something or other" through the motor. The dealership replaced the motor under warranty for him. This guy talked really fast & in language that was pretty much Greek to me, and I only talked to him a little. I didn't want to bug him too much. Now I'm wishing I asked more questions and understood more at the time I talked to him.

the displacment on demand causes our cars to use about a qt of oil every 1500-3000 miles depending on how much the dod is used. on my car it rarely showed low on the stick so i always relied on the DIC. when it said low oil i changed the oil and filter all together. i have since tuned the dod out and do not lose oil at all. yes if he ran out of oil then it could have done many things to the engine. depending on the hand held tuner you have you can sell it for a decent amount of money if you do not plan on using it. a diablo sport predator tuner can fetch about 175 bucks.

So the dealership said nothing was wrong with my car. They said the fluid was fine & normal operating temp on these transmissions goes up to 250. So, guess I'm on my own here. I am going to look into coolers for sure though. What I have says Superchips Cortex. 2950.

The Ford dealership I took it too, actually sent it to the dealership across the street to have it looked at, which used to be a Pontiac, Olds, Buick, GMC dealership (now, of course they've dropped the Pontiac from their name.) I asked why the transmission EXPERT down the road told me anything over 200 was bad then, and they said they were just going by what the Pontiac guys over there at the other dealership said, because they didn't work on Pontiacs. I didn't trust what they are saying. I don't think it should go over 210 with mild driving for 15 minutes. I haven't driven out of town in it yet, & don't think I will until I get a cooler.

Oh well hope you are able to get the temps down somehow.

I'm not exactly the "raise hell" type.... If you knew me, you'd know I am not able to pull that off. It'd be like Mickey mouse throwing a conniption fit. They would take me even LESS seriously. Lol. I just am not going to deal with them anymore. Word will get around quickly in this town though about it. Which may or may not hurt their business. Oh well. I'm going to have my regular mechanic (who is a friend & owns a small auto shop) look it over. He said he would & not charge me. Ordered my new cooler today. I had a gift card for Amazon worth $50, so I got one of the B&M coolers from there & only cost me $13 after using the gift card! My mechanic said he could put it on for me for around $75. Guess that is a good deal. From what I've read it takes a couple hours of labor. He said they may have to take out the radiator, (which I haven't read anything about having to go that,) but if they do, it'd be like $25 more. Anyway, hope it works! Thanks again for all the advice and support! Will let you know how it turns out.

So I got my transmission cooler put on today... My mechanic said he drove it about 20 minutes in town & the transmission never went over 195. I drove it myself right after that for about 15 minutes through the country, same route I'd taken before, when it was about 80 degrees outside and my transmission temp went to 213. Today, it's only about 60 out. I ran about 60-70 mph between about 8-10 stop signs & the transmission temp went to 210. So, I'm not sure if it helped... Any thoughts? I was thinking & from what everyone has said in these forums, their temps never went over 200 with a cooler, my problem would be solved, but I'm kinda disappointed now & not sure what to do.. Should I get a fan too? Ugh...
