Hey guys so i joined up here yesterday afternoon to do some searching on spark plugs on my car and then a couple hours later my wife gets home with the car and informs me she was driving and the engine light was on.She said she turned off the car and restarted but the light was still on.She then stopped at her destination for a few minutes and when she restarted the car the light was off and has been off since.
I went outside hooked up the scanner and in the history it shows P0716 and then something about the turbine.

I took car for a drive down the highway and everything felt normal.

So i did a bunch of searching and basically my question is.

Is this bad the light was on but after restarting car a couple times its now off.Or is there something wrong and what could it be.Could it be the sensor in the tranny i was reading that its not likely but then some say it is likely.

I bought the car with 105,000KM on it as im in canada and it now has 120,000km all highway though as we commute an 2 hours a day back and forth to work.

Some reading for you... http://www.grandprixforums.net/p0716...ode-34512.html If you have access to a scanner which can read tranny data, you can see the values of the input sensor converted into RPM's by the PCM. This will be the RPM's of the input shaft. If you don't have a scanner, you can get access to the sensor's wiring at the 20 pin connector on top of the tranny. Better yet, check the operation of the sensor at the PCM and this will check the wiring from the PCM through the 20 pin connector all the way to the input sensor. For such tests, I use a scanner or if I want to look at the signal itself from the sensor, I use an oscilloscope. You can use a digital multimeter set to AC volts and if your meter has frequency or pulse width functions, you can see these also.

While I doubt it's your issue, I have seen this code pop up on a buddies car when his chains were stretched badly. Keeping in mind that was a seriously built car that took a lot of abuse, that is why I don't feel it's your issue.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

You're right Bill and I hope you're doing well. Anything that could disrupt the pulses from the sensor could set the code. And a chain with a lot of slop could create havoc on the pulses. Another likely scenario would be the reluctor with loose pins as this seems to be a problem area. Again, looseness in the pins of the reluctor would upset the timing of the pulses. But I figure one may as well check the wiring and see the results of the sensor since they can be checked from the outside of the tranny.

Don't have a clue about your scanner software, but i's easy enough to try it and see.
