I know its a newb question but wat does a built Trans actually consist of?
upgraded hard parts, better clutches, updated valve body, tighter clutch packing etc.
hard parts being a chain, input shaft for most. Gets more involved the further you go.
Thanks guys im almost finished getting the parts I need for my top swap any website that actually sell built Trans? I was on zzp but they only have stock Transmissions would it be better 2 buy one built already or build myself?
zzp will sell a built transmission.
triple edge performance is our local supporting trans guy.
Tim king will also build a trans for you.
These transmissions aren't tough once you know what you want. Here's the way my list would go.
TEP valve body/channel plate/spacer plate. They go through and do all the Sonnax/Transgo/etc upgrades along with new soleniods and tested pressure switches.
Better stack of clutches, most places do this.... TEP says so and it's a good stack.
Hardened 4th clutch hub: All do it
New seals: Should be all do it
Better input shaft: Something that is a "do you need it" item. There are a lot of guys putting down decent power on stock input shafts...the risk though is typically not worth it. I would recommend the Intense turbine shaft or the ZZP 300M.
Chains: the V8 chains are good, definately better than the stock v6 chains. A 15/16 is brittle and they tend to break which is bad. 7/8 stretch with lots of power, but they don't snap typically. 1".. the end all be all.
Im n automotive school now n they let us work on our cars there with help but no I have neva actually done a Trans before
what states are the Trans builders n im in Maryland n im pretty sure the dnt ship transmission except locally???
How do I get incontact with those guy not zzp
