I contacted Raybestos about the phasing out of the Z-Pack and inquired about the latest and greatest GPZ100 clutches. After submitting e-mail and making phone calls I received a call from Irvin Gers, Raybestos Powertrain Sales & Product Development Support Engineer. He explained they hadn't been moving enough inventory to keep the line for our application. They don't currently make the GPZ100 for us either. Everytime someone sends a message through their site, the info is forwarded up the ladder. If we flood them with interest in Z-Pack or GPZ100 clutches for the 4T65E we may be able to get them to rethink their decision. It's one of those situations, if we don't do it who will? Thanks for taking the time to read this post and remember, one day your gonna need a transmission. Help yourself and others to keep options for the future. Thanks again.

It's one thing for a lot of people to inquire about a legitimate purchase, but people doing it just for the sake of it is pretty much wasting their time. If the demand isn't there, then it isn't there.

I know it seems ludicrous but I didn't see the harm in trying. The trans had a good 14yr run..

Not saying you can't try, but just doing it for the sake of getting them to make kits isn't fair. Hell, if someone wants one bad enough, I've got a new z-pack that I never put in.

are clutches even an issue in a 4t65? most of the issues i have seen and read about have been mostly hard part failure
But why make it an SE?

Actually mater, in some cases the clutches get really bad. So it is key to make sure you put a decent set in.

Clutches are a pretty big part of the trans. I hear there is another type we can use. I forgot what they are but I think it's posted on CGP. Or someone could contact Tim King or TEP and see what they are going to use when their current inventory runs out.

Dave (TEP) no longer has any Z-Packs. I've been in constant contact planning my build up. Waitin on the damn trailer now. Borg-Warner High Energy clutches are what he uses. He explained to me the z-pack clutches had a longer life and less tendency to slip but the steels can show signs of heat (bluing) meaning they can/will slip. They just keep their ability to "bite" longer. The 9 clutch pack was also made possible by these thinner, tougher clutches which in turn took slop out. The tighter tolerances and "bite" made for quicker shifts without having to crank the pressure in the trans to acheive the same result. More pressure+slipping clutches=more heat

Yeah, and I have no idea what happened, my PM box wasn't near full, but I went ahead and cleaned it out anyway. I got 3 notifications about it. I'll try to send you one here in a sec.
