okay this car hasnt been used in a couple years, so it only had a oil change, and radiator flush, gonna service the tranny soon, but if i gas it from 0, when it gets to 4100rpm it would go back and forth, as in if im hitting the redline, and then shift into second. So im in first gear at a light, when it goes green, gas it, right when i know its gonna shift into second, it doesnt change right away, the transition is smoothe, no hard clunking or anything, its jsut that part. Like u know if u rev in neutral/park, the car is only available up to a lil bit past 4000rpm and then the needle goes back and forth, exactly what happens. Could it be a vaccum leak? i broke 2 hoses but fixed them up, but i think i still have a leak somewhere. it has no mods at all. Thanks

try a tune up, if its been sitting a few years. sounds like misfires.

Really? There was one fouled spark spark that has been replaced. I've replaced the front 3 but not the back 3

change the wires and the back 3. if one was fouled the rest are also old.

Also change the trans fluid and filter it can't hurt anything and will help if it happens to be slipping or something.

is your check engine light on or flashing when it wont go over 4,000 rpm? it really don't sound trans related to me.

If your car is throwing a CEL it could be in "limp mode"/

I don't believe it's in limp mode, it works sometimes, and does it very nicely

I had a buddies that did that, it acted like it hit the rev limiter for a few seconds, then shifted. No CEL. It was about 6 years ago, so Im not sure what the problem ended up being.

03 GTP...Its got pulleys and stuff.

Clean your maf sensor and your iat sensor while your at it. maf and tps can cause many trans problems.

check out the wires that plug into your sensor's, make sure they are free of cracks or missing insulation, if you find any of this you need a new pig tail for that sensor, bad wires will throw the same code as a bad sensor. the heat from the cross over im sure beats the wires to death over time.

I cleaned the maf, cleaned it with maf cleaner. Seems more stable but problem still persists, Saturday and good tech friend of mine and myself are replacing the rear valve cover gasket and putting on sd headers so we will look into it more until the, I'm getting 11 mpg. Fml

For a car sitting that long, replace all the plugs and wires and definitely change the fluids for the engine and transmission. After the cleaning of the MAF sensor, did any other codes pop up? How about the TPS? You mentioned it in an earlier post. Do you have a scanner to look at data? Does your tech friend have a smoke machine to find any possible leaks? And at 11 mpg, I would say you still have some issues going on. As far as modding, I would wait until the car is running smoothly before doing that as it could compound your problem if the mods don't go as planned.

I was referring to the tcs . Traction control system, sorry for all the typo's. The t9 on the iPhone is only helpful when you drunk texting hehe. Yeah my friend and I work together at a tranny shop so when the boss isnt looking we work on my car. This weekend I plan on fixing the vac leak and or replacing all vacuum hoses for good measure, replace rear valve cover gasket, back 3 spark plugs, installing sd headers, and maybe do a oil trans replace. I'd take some oil but theres cameras everywhere lol. I'm aware this tranny takes dexron I've I believe? Im prolly mistaken. I'm on a tight budget so I'm trying to do what is there and what's important, I know the ad headers aren't important but I'm back there anyways so I might as well. I'm putting a gen v on this soon, I have all the parts jus not the aeroforce scan gauge for kr scan but other than that yeah, is there anything else I should be aware of?

Sounds like you have a few things going on.

How old is the fuel and what octane might it be?
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
