I think I have the same problem, My cousin in-law used my car for a few days, now I have that Howling that starts over 30 mph and just gets louder the faster I get. I changed Driver side axle a little over a year ago because I heard the clicking when I turned but maybe I needed to change the passenger side.

The way you describe it..I'd wonder if it's not a hub going bad.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

So maybe I don't need to change the whole axle just the Hub, Is there a way to test that. Other than driving on it and listening

Sometimes when the howling starts and the hub is bad, it will get quieter when you turn the steering wheel around a corner.

The best way to tell is get the car in the air and check it out for yourself.

It was the hub on the passenger side and you were right, when I was on the highway and it went right the hub did get quieter but not when it went left. If that means anything.

I work for sears automotive. Get the front end in the air and put your hands at 12 and 6'oclock and push alternately and if there is even a little play then the bearing in the hub is going bad or already is bad. Thus making for a new hub assembly requirement

Take the hub off and spin it. Bad hubs you can usually spin them and hear slight humming and they spin very freely.
