Hey, I been having probs with my trans. I been wanting to build it up and make it look better while performing better. I dont know where to start. I have say about $1300 cash in February lol and I want to replace the current or rebuild with a better one with install. I have a 97 with a newer motor and Im trying to stay at a budget. The future upgrades to the engine will be a Cam Springs and possible turbo to get to 450Hp or 500HP. Help? lol

I would call and talk with both Tim King and Dave Norris. Tim used to build trannys for intense. And dave runs Triple Edge Performance - Home Page and posts here quite often. But are excellent guys and build really great transmissions. They can point you in the right direction for parts and what you will need to run that high of HP. But I would guess you are looking at more than $1300 unless you get all used parts and do all the work yourself.

From what I have read, between parts and tools it will still run you just over $1000 if you do it yourself.

If you're that strapped for cash, though I hate to say it... pull a low mileage tranny and shove it in.
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

Some runs on the track and to keep up with my friends custom Foreigns and Muscle Cars.

I should do it myself or with my friend, he quoted me $700 without custom parts if he does it in my garage. My trans is a 4T65E isnt it? cause I will just buy the parts but i dont know all that I need
