    Approx 188,00 miles.

I bought the car knowing it had a transmission issue of some type. Most noticeable was after highway driving, coming to a stop and then taking off again it would almost always skip second and shift into third. However, if you mashed the gas it would downshift back into 2nd and shift appropriately into 3rd and OD. Manually shifting the car from 1,2,3 still also skips second "most" of the time. Some days I can drive the car without any issue at all. There is no slip in second once im in the gear, and downshifting from 3rd to 2nd is no issue, so forcing it to downshift by heavy acceleration in 3rd is always smooth into second and then back into third without issue. I have no problems with Overdrive either. Just a few hundred miles after I got the car, I did a complete fluid/filter change including cycling enough clean fluid through the transmission that I exchanged what is also kept in the torque convertor. About a week later I decided after reading on the forums that I might have a Pressure control solenoid issue. So I drained fluid and took the side cover off and changed out the PCS. At the same time I also did the DIY shift kit using a stock 2-3 spring in 1-2 and the spacers from mcmaster. After all this was completed I took my car into the gm garage and had them reset the transmission computer to clear any hard shift codes and to reset shift pressures. Also i road tested with the mechanic and his tech2 tool and he supposedly verified all solenoids were opening and closing and that line pressures were good.

I've now driven the car probably 6000 miles since all that was done and still routinely have the skipping 2nd issue. After all the drive time skipping 2nd is now completely random I can go 2 or 3 days without any shift issues what so ever. It can happen wether the car is hot or cold, wether im beating it to death, or driving it like a grandmother.

Bill, or Trannyguy - any idea's?

It seems like it would be a solenoid issue still. - im gonna browse through the forums again and try to find where all the solenoids where listed. ..my next thought is the 1-2 shift solenoid? seems like the 2-3 is working fine.

I've had the pan off a couple of times since and can verify no metal shavings, a little metallic sludge did exist when i did the original fluid/filter change shortly after i purchased the car. It runs out great in general and Ive driven it on vacation into Tennessee and Mississippi (about 2300miles round trip)loaded with my fiance and our luggage, no problems other than the occasional skipping 2nd problem.

    SO HELP ME!

There's a lot of seal lip revisions on the rebuild kits. Basically taking all the short lip seal designs and making them long. This provides a better seal. Also you are always in and out of second, so if clutches are going to wear. Third and second seem to take a good amount of the abuse.

Lemme see what I can dig up on info from another post with some links.

My recommendation if you want one would be to pull a quart of fuild out and replace it with a bottle of Lucas Trans No Slip or toss in a bottle of LubeGard
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
