    i was driving home last friday night at 65mph on the highway and the car downshifted out of 4th into 3rd. i never got over drive back. it does not even try to shift into it, it just stays in 3rd. there is no slipping, the fluid is good. so im wondering if this could be a sensor and its not telling it to shift or maybe a solenoid or something. any ideas?

    sounds like you lost 4 th gear.

    the thing is tho i could understand it being what is explained in that link, IF it was shifting in to 4th and then slipping out. the thing is its not even attempting to shift out of third. thats why it seems like theres no signal or something for it to shift and thats my reason for thinking its a sensor...

    Typically, when a sensor has issues it will trip your CEL

    03 GTP...Its got pulleys and stuff.

    If your 4th gear strips out it won't try to shift
