My wife's stock 98 gtp with 200k lost 4th gear, so I've got another trans to swap with it. I'm going to throw in a rebuild kit along with a hardened 4th clutch hub, and solenoid kit. What's the consensus on replacing the torque converter? And where do you guys get a good stock replacement? Anyone ever use the ones being sold on ebay? I'm thinking it's good insurance, but wanted to know what others do. Thanks.

Typically the new trans arrives with it's good TC.

    Replace the TC, no question.

I just rebuilt my tranny and I replaced the torque converter and got it from Dave at tripleedgeperformance.com. I figure if you go to all of that trouble to rebuild a tranny, it's good insurance to throw in the converter.

Word of advice. Always replace the converter on a failed trans.

If there's metal particles in the failed trans then there's a good chance there's metal particles stuck in the torque Converter and you don't want those floating around in the new transmission.
