or do you swap them out for a different trans.
i know most of you probably build them and make em stroger.
also what exactly makes these trans so weak

There are really no other autos that we can use, you can swap out to a 5 speed with some work.
Just get it rebuilt by the best (Trannyman/Tim King/Chris Harmon...) and if you run it hard just drop the pan and do the filter every season. They know all the little things to do to get the trans to last.
Chain may be the weakest of all the parts, 7/8ths usually starts to stretch at 350-400whp on a daily driver.
Weight reduction can go a long way.
The most common things that need to be done are valve body upgrades, hardened 4th hub shaft, upgraded chain(s) and once you know what you are doing (have talked to Dave and trans guys enough) then you add more to the clutch packs to remove some of the play.
