I got a Dynotech stage 2 with 1500 miles.I painted it today and noticed the pump shaft. Is this bad?Should it be replaced? Its hard to tell but in person you can also see that near the end of the shaft the splines look thinner and the about half way up they are noticably thicker.

I normally like to take stabs at this sorta thing, but given the consequences I'll defer to Trannyman and let him give you the expert judgment call.

That is pretty typical and most shops dont replace shafts that look in that condition. If the splines are really worn then they go in the trash, that is not going to fail soon or anything but it may not be a bad idea to replace it with another good used one, a new stock shaft, or even an upgraded ZZP shift which I have never seen wear on after usage as they are much stronger but cost a bit more and arent needed for most applications. You will have to remove the side cover, oil pump, and valve body to replace the pump shaft.
