Re: New 1 inch drive chain
It's a subject that has been beaten to death and there is a reason why the 1" GMR's are still high in price. It's not as simple as it may seem to get a chain that fits and won't break under very high loads while retaining drivability of the car.
Most 1" chains are 3.29 and I know of (2) that are 2.93, one being Matt M's, so Intrigue that would be an even rarer chainset if it is 3.52.
Re: New 1 inch drive chain
Yeah, it definitely is a rare chainset for sure. It was the chain used in the cobalt drag cars rated at 1200hp. the 2.93 and 3.29 chains are rated at 800hp.
Re: New 1 inch drive chain
I've been watching these 1" chain threads as of late. Looks like we may have an additional problem, the other gp site has irritated and pissed zoomer off so much he hinted at nixing the whole damned project.
Just a heads up.

Re: New 1 inch drive chain
Why would he nix it if he could make him money? That makes no sense at all
Re: New 1 inch drive chain
Sounds like hes a crybaby.
Re: New 1 inch drive chain
Thread was pulled on other forum. Missing.

I don't foresee Zoomer being pissed as a factor. There's three different groups working on this to my knowledge. If Zoomer drops out, all it's going to mean is that ZZP won't be a source. W/o going into it much, I may have helped that thread disappear. My opinons of ZZP have come out before and honestly they could make a killing in this and other car markets if the current management put someone in charge. Again...my opinion.
Back to the 1" thread. Intrigue was mentioning that this looks very hopeful. The only question I have is ... how soon can these get to market?
Re: New 1 inch drive chain
I found a good reference document that I am still reading up on. It contains a list of all the Borg Warner (Morse) chains made for production vehicles (including the 7/16 pitch GMR chain). These include trans and transfer case chains.
For a 3/8 pitch chain, we need 84 pitches to make it work. Gears (sprockets) are another story of course....

P/N for the 3/8" GMR chain in here

If anyone has any sources/contacts with borg warner/morse (internally) [slim chance but doesn't hurt to ask] maybe some more info can be brought into the picture.
Re: New 1 inch drive chain
The thread on the other site isn't gone. Just moved to the tranny section.
