    Hey everyone. So I just picked up my newish 07 GP GXP with 22kmi on it. Awesome car and big upgrade from the 02 GP GT I was driving.

    Ive been reading and understand the issues with the 4t65e tranny. Though I never had any issues with my 02', Id like to use this kit in my 07' GXP as a precaution. Does anyone have the instructions for this kit they can post up? I didn't see that it did anything for a 3-4 shift, is this true?

    Also, I saw somewhere that to install this kit (properly maybe?) that you need to get to the side of the tranny where the valve body is. Is this true? All the threads I've read are about people dropping the pan and doing the 1-2 and 2-3 stuff. Where is the 3-4 accum., on the side by the valve body?

    Any info. would be appreciated. Just wondering if its just a simple pan drop, or If I have to get to the side of the tranny too? I havent seen anyone post pics of side work, or heard much talk about it either.

    I dont got any instructions but i'll let in on some info.

    Its just a pan drop, no valve body stuff.

    there is no need for the 3-4 shift because your 4th gear in now hardend (03+ upgrade), the shift kit just does it for the 1-2 and 2-3.

    you'll need like 8 bottle of dex trans fluid aswell.

    main issue is your block is aluminum.

    draws lots of heat from the combustion chamber.

    then transfers this to the transmission case.

    thus cooking it.

    Keep a close eye on your tranny temps.

    Should be around the same as your engine coolant temps.

    would some type of heat wrap around the trans case be good in that situation?

    Thanks guys. Five Finger, What do you mean by hardened? I just assumed their would be a little upgrade to the quickness/firmess of the 3-4 **** as well, unless it doesnt quite work like that?

    So if I buy this kit, I should be able to use ALL the parts in it and do nothing more than drop my pan to get at everything right there, correct?

    Now I know where I saw that the kit needs acces to the side and valve body : Ebay! Search for the TransGo kit on there, at least one or two of the sellers say that you need acces to the side. And it's the same SK4t65e kit we're all talking about!

    hardend as in heat treated metal. Its stronger and wont break.

    I'm in the middle of a rebuild for my transmission and I installed the Transgo SK4T65E kit. In the kit, the 3rd clutch inner lip seal is replaced with a chamfered seal that has a coil spring underneath it. On the 1-2 accumulator underneath the piston, a white spring is added along with a .75" spacer. On the 2-3 accumulator underneath the piston, a red spring and a white spring are added along with a .75" spacer. On the top side of this piston, a .530" spacer is added. In the 3-4 accumulator, both springs are replaced with a yellow and red spring. Finally, in the valve body, the reverse boost valve, the line boost valve and the pressure regulator outer spring is replaced. The 3-4 accumulator is located on the back side of the channel plate which covers the sprockets and chain. Hope this helps you out.

    Thanks Stuzman, thanks exactly what I wanted to know. So it sounds like many with the Transgo kit just primarily do the 1-2 and 2-3 work where its easy, and dont take out or drop the tranny to get to the VB to do the 3-4 and other work. Of course if you dont have access to a lift or aren't very mechanical I can see why many wouldnt get to the side cover!

    Yes, that's right threepttilt; that's my understanding about the Transgo kit. It's probably meant to be used in an overhaul. But as you mentioned, most guys probably do it for the springs in the accumulators which are easy to access. I forgot to mention that the kit also comes with a long lip seal for the reverse servo piston. However, I believe with most rebuild kits or at least with the Transtec master rebuild kit that I'm using now, the long lip seal is already included. And as far as the 3rd clutch inner lip seal that I mentioned earlier, a long lip seal is already included in the Transtec rebuild kit. So, with two of the items, it's a wash. In my earlier post, I mentioned that the 3-4 accumulator is located behind the case cover. I corrected that now and meant to say that it's behind the channel plate which of course covers the sprockets and chain. To get to that joker, you'll have to remove the valve body and lot of other stuff before you get to that.

    Yes, the TransGo kit has a lot of parts in it to cover several different issues. I just put the shift kit in to get rid of the slow 1-2, 2-3 shifting. If I need to drop it to get at the side cover, the tranny will get overhauled so I don't have to do it again.

    if you're worried about heat you can install a good tranny cooler, mine rarely sees north of 150* on the hottest days
