    was out doing some spirited driving and suddenly lost all gears. there's a whining/whirling sound that seems to come from the tranny to motor and driver side wheel area. towed it back to the house and scanned the ISS via powertuner to narrow down the cause. was told at park/neutral it should be zero but in gear be slightly lower with the RPMs. well in any gears its still at zero. the fluid isnt burnt and the level when car is running is between the words max operating. the tc bolts are still connected to the flexplate and the tc is spinning with it. so right now any ideas on what it might be? heres the setup on the trans and such:

    triple edge performance strip/street trans-has just under 20k miles
    300m input shaft(20k plus unknown mileage)
    1" GM chain(20k plus previous unknown mileage)
    miziere flex plate(used)
    precision 3k stall converter(20k miles)

    You get no reverse gears?

    With a turbo etc.. I'm thinking something like the input shaft or chain went. If you get no input speed, that's most likely an input shaft.

    local trans/performance shop will pick it up tomorrow and look at it wednesday and let me know if its the converter for starters. theres no reverse either.

    Take your choice of descriptions. It's loud in the video.

    Maybe it's whirring. If you broke a pump shaft, I guess it wouldn't whine. Cause the pump wouldn't be pumping. And ...it wouldn't work because w/o pump the hydraulic trans can't work.

    it may be the pump shaft. the mechanic on the phone at the trans shop when i described him the sound and no reverse/forward mentioned the first things they check first before going into the trans is the converter, but his initial thought based on these 2 conditions(no reverse/forward and the sound) is possibly the converter splines, input shaft or the pump shaft. of all the 3 i dont know which would be the better of the evil....

    Well, having a 300M, theoretically that should not be broken. I'm sure it's possible, but unlikely. The pump shaft.. stock right? that's possible. And the TC. Which TC did you say you had?

    the pump shaft i think may be stock, trannyman would know. the converter's a precision 3k stall, new when installed back when i was running the stock trans. trannyman used washers though for clearance. on the vs cam motor, i didnt use them as i thought it was fine getting the tc bolts in and used blue locktite. im still unclear if there's any clearance issues between the stock motor and the vs cam motor without using washers?

    i dont follow what you mean by billet or stock tc? like said, its a precision stall

    Take a look at Daves site. He has three levels of converter available. Precison stock remaned.
    Precision HD upgrade
    Precision Billet Super Duty.

    I'd think that should hold up.

    Seems like your weakest link is the pump shaft.

    that would definitely suck. if its the pump shaft, wouldnt that throw debris into the trans and wreak havoc on parts?

    No matter what it ends up being, I don't think it's a good thing.

    There are screens in the pump and valve body. Hopefully nothing caused big issues. You're still looking at labor to pull it out, pull it apart then fix. And on the Z7 kit, that's not a lot of fun. I'm seasoned on these transmissions and the Z7 blocks some bolts and makes it necesary to unbolt the turbo kit and support it in order to pull the trans.

    im already aware of the add'l labor to unbolt the z7 kit to gain access to the trans. both the local shop and dave had already experienced this first hand lol. just hope if if it is the pump shaft, if everything else in the trans will be untouched and not fubar'd
