Guys, my 3rd gear is gone so I'm trying to find another transmission. I found a local place that has rebuilt units on the shelf, but when I asked them if they had one for my '99 GT they told me I needed to give them the numbers off of the tranny identification tag. I don't see one anywhere on mine. There are some numbers on the casing, will that help?

    Thanks in advance

Should help, but somewhere on the trans is a tag with more info. If no one chimes in before I get home I'll look at my old trans on the floor and tell you where the tag is.

Basically any trans from a GT that is 98 or 99 will work directly. Can't be from a GTP (has different gear ratio). If you go with a 00-02 GT trans then you will have to change a fluid line on the trans as the 98-99 has different size fittings on the case.

Thanks for the info on the differences. It's been rebuilt before (by a pos mechanic) and he must've left any id tags off. I do know it's an M15, will that help?

I don't know what the M15 is for. Might just be a casting # for the case or something.

Dave at Triple Edge Performance may be able to help you with this. He ID'd my replacement trans. and gave a good description as to the differences. That's why I know the line fittings are different between the years, lol.. Hate to see anyone else go through the hassle of finding out the hard way.

Look at one of the stickied posts on the trans. forum for his contact info. Give him a day or 2 to respond as he runs a business as well as helping us.
