i was thinking and can put this into words finally i hope. so i got the issue tc lockin at highway speeds all that good stuff. but sometimes when i take off say commin up to a light. rght on red no stoppin then takin off it will go up to like 3gs then seem kinda like the same as the tc on the highway. tomoro i am going to pull my coil packs and check resistance across them to see if its the same to check if there good i guess thats the only way to know for sure. if that doesnt solve it i have seen talk about clipping wires to the brake to the solinoid or something. am i on the right track and does anyone know about this cutting wire thing sounds shady. im just hurting at the moment strapped on cash dont have half the doe for a rebuild please helpppp

Ok, let me see if I can translate what you just said. Lemme know if I get it right.

When you are cruising on the highway you are in overdrive and the TC locks as it should. No issue there.

Then, if you are coming up to a red light and just let off the gas and coast (not touching the brakes) and the light turns green you press the gas and the car revs up to 3K rpms and then shifts into 3rd and locks the TC again. So tell me, what's the issue with this?? You coast for a bit then hit the gas the car is likely downshifting into 2nd and then back into 3rd and locking the converter, and possibly hunting for OD if going fast enough. If you have issue with this try leaving the gear shifter in "3" and not "D" unless you are going to sustain a speed of over 47mph.

Why do you suspect you have an issue w/ your coil packs? Do you have a misfire? A CEL on?

Clipping the wires that lead from the brake switch to the TCC sounds like putting a band-aid on a problem that should require stiches. Don't do this. Do your research, ask questions and diagnose the issue properly.

Yes, please confirm that Fordman translated properly and we can help further. I'm kinda at a loss after reading your post.

What RPMs are you turning on the highway if cruising at a steady 60mph? Should be right at 2K.

While on the highway and you try to give it gas and the rpms don't move, hold it there and lightly tap the brake pedal w/ your other foot and see what happens.

The only other thing I can think to try right now would be to disconnect BOTH of the battery cables from the battery, and touch the 2 cable ends together for about 30 seconds and then let it sit overnight w/ the battery disconnected. Then in the morning reconnect and take it for a drive. This will allow the ECM and TCM to relearn everything and may eliminate the issue.

When was the last time you changed plugs/wires? You never did say if you had a CEL on or not.

That's what I wanted to see.

When you are cruising on the highway in OD the torque converter is locked. Pressing the brake pedal sends a signal to unlock it. So it seems there is an issue w/ the TCC lockup.

Did you try the battery cable trick I mentioned yet? This may solve your issue.

May want to have it scanned for codes. And no, a trans. code will not always show up as a CEL light on the dash. The dealer or a qualified trans. shop should be able to scan for engine and trans. codes.

If nothing is found there then I'm not sure. You may have to talk to Dave at triple edge performance on that one, or hopefully one of the other trans. guru's here will chime in.
