I have a 2005 3.8l NA Grand Prix 136000miles and for a few months now the transmission has been shifting hard. The fluid seems good and I change the fluid and filter about a year ago.

I have read through the forums that it is most likely the solenoids. I planned on buying the package of solenoids on ebay.

How much of labor charge should it be to change these out? Any help?

i have an 04 comp g and have a bad solenoid from 1st to 2nd gear. its kinda bad. i heard their hard to replace because you have to dissassemble the whole transmission and at that point to just get a rebuilt or a new one.

Yep I gof an 05 and I got a tranny rebuild, it shifts really hard on all gears and it bunny hops by itself, so I took it to the guy who did the rebuild and told me he neede to change the shift solenoids and the valve body.

How much did the tranny rebuild cost you? Is it worth it to run the car till thing get worse, then rebuild?

TD you best bet is to call around to some trans shops and ask for a quote. let them know whats wrong, with that many miles your better off with a full rebuild though. a reputable show will like charge 1200-2000. i had a stock rebuild a few years ago when i lost forth gear and it was 1500.

hard shift, make sure you have enough fluid, you could be low. get the trans to opperating temp after driving around so the trans has gone through all gears and then check the dipstick with the car running. if there was alot of sludge/clutch material when you did the fluid filter change then you might need new clutches.
