I have a 2007 GP that recently just got done getting built, XP and the works. The trans also had a input shaft put in and 7/8 3.29 gear chain. I have a MASSIVE tranny leak coming from the passengers side around the diff housing. Billboost helped me out, and just want to get some more opinons. THANKS.

My suggestion was the potential that the bearing behind the park pawl moved when the cover was off and now the cover is slightly tweaked. Ensuring that the cover is sitting flush on the trans case before tightening is the key to checking this bearing as you install the cover. If out of place, it'll usually crack when torqued down.

Another couple of ideas is that if you built the trans, it's possible to mix up the driverside cover seal (outside cover to channel plate around axle area) and the diff cover seal.

Lastly.. double check that the VSS sensor (you can pull w/o losing fluid) has it's rubber o-ring intact.

Oh..and another thing. The forward band servo (I think that's the one) cover is down toward that end. It's the cover that sticks straight off the rear of the trans toward the ps rack. That seal or cover may be slightly out of place.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Ok, under you go to find out exactly where it's leaking. That's the best suggestion I can give you. Once you know where it's leaking, then you can talk to the builder.

That's an easy fix. make sure to keep the bearing and washer on the end of the diff in the same orientation and you'll be all set.

Is that JB weld on the casing and is it holding the piece that mates to the diff cover?

To me that looks like the bearing is indeed out of place and the cover was torqued down. However since the cover is broken, it's tough to say that with 100% certainty. Even pulling things apart would potentially move that bearing out of place, so it's tough to say definately (unless you pull the cover only, put a new one in place and before bolting it down...have the same gap. There should be no gap at all when the bolts are put into the cover. Nothing gets pulled into place in the diff cover, it must fit w/o any issue for things to be correctly installed.

No it is rtv. We were 2 blocks from my house when it started leaking and we needed to get it to my house. I have a spare diff cover. It should be about and hour job to get it done

Bill when you say set the bearing in place, I have to pull my diff cover off to replace the VSS Reluctor wheel, how do I set it back in right?

I can get a pic of the ATSG manual. Or maybe one of the trans links I posted before might have it. The picture shows the lip and it's orientation.
