Sounds like a cv joint, only does it under a load and only sometimes, like maybe the differential is attempting to lock the other side or something. is this possible? any other ideas, oh and this is straight, not while turning ( pretty much ruling out cv.

Have you turned while the noise was being made and if so did it effect the sound?

Doesn't have t click on turns to be a CV. Your issue sounds very much like a CV and not a transmission.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

What funny is it only does it under a HARD load, you really have to romp on it to get it to do it, it will do it while turning but again only on a hard load. It acts like soemthing is trying to engage, and it wasn't doing it all that often, it does seem to be getting worse though. Axels area easy enough, especially on that side, I've replaced the hub twice in the last six months, so I guess I'll do the axel when I put the sway's in.
