Ok , got a 99 gtp. When im accelerating and it finally hits that last gear i think its a 4 speed. it will start shaking a little bit and i can see it on the tach as well. but if im accelerating hard it doesnt do it . just wandering if it is maybe a clutch or something in the tranny , i dont have allot of expeirence with automatics. any help will be great

    thanks

yes it has a four speed but fourth wouldnt come in till like 125 or so. if it shakes a bit it could be low on fluid mine was that way also it could be the clutches wearing out, a shift kit would help them last longer

opps i read that wrong disregard my post

Correct me if I am reading into this wrong but are you trying to say that during normal acceleration, light or part throttle, when it shifts into 4th under this condition you notice the problem? Say around 40-55 mph and you see the tach bounce up and down a few hundred rpms?

i was just going to ask you about this trannyman, mine does it also....in 3rd to i belive...but dont quote me on that i will have to double check.

it is almost like it is shudering...and it has gotten worse in the last week or 2...during hard acceleration the problem is not present.in any gear.

will anything help this tuning wise driving wise or maybe like shift kit wise? lol

I am also hearing almost like a belt squealing noise at idle and p/t and think it may be related to the trans...but im checking into that also...

So is your problem the rpms consistantly bouncing up and down a few hundred rpm around 45+ mph? I need specific info on the problem to help out. If you do have a tuner then you can try raising up the Min TCC duty% a bit and also go into the pressure control solenoid Amperage tables and reduce the .5 amps and higher numbers by a few percent at a time. That will cause the line pressure to raise and can help overcome the problem also, IF it is lockup related.

it is happening in 3rd and fourth...33 mph is the lowest it has happend and is less noticable in 3rd than in fourth...aprox 75 is the highest i have ever noticed it as of now.

as far as the rpm's bouncing up and down...i mostly notice it when i am at higher speeds...like around 60 on up with the cruise control on....then it will bounce up and down...and shudder a bit...then when i press on the gas and the engine bogs down a bit it shudders real bad.

max line pressure is already set at 96. forced motor current positive and negative is zeroed out on the 100 colum.

is that what you were talking about?

and as far as a ''few percent''...how much??? 3?

The far right column is not what is going to effect this, nor is max pressure and 96 is the max value and most pcms are already set for that. You need to play with the 1 amp to .5 amp section, the lower the current-the more pressure will be produced where 0 amps means max line pressure. Cruising down the road in TCC you will never be anywhere near max line pressure. The best thing to do so you know exactly where to adjust this table is to drive the car and watch commanded and actual PCS amperage, likely the numbers will be in the .6-.8 range and this is where you can subtract a few %. 3% at a time would probably be fine, there is no reason to make drastic changes as this effects ALL shifting properties, not just TCC operation.

hmm can you tell me how to set that up in hpt? i dont have anything tranny related set up as of now...

does that sound like it? valve body? how much do you charge for the part (i didnt see it on your website) and for installation of the part if the car is brought to you? pm me if you wish

There is no good answer to fixing this problem other than a full build. There are soo many small problems that alone dont have much if any effect but together have enough pressure loss issues to cause the TCC system not to work properly. Outside of some valve body modifications that could completely eliminate the PWM operation and give lockup a stronger feel and no slippage there just isnt one single part that guarantees this problem to go away as again there are just too many potential causes of it. There are common things to wear out and cause this problem, but it doesnt always mean it fixes the issue. As far as HPT, you need to pull up the PID list in the scanner and right click and empty box and then you can insert a parameter. You will be shown a window of folders and within that there will be a few folders for transmission parameters and you will be able to click on the PCS amperage ones. You need to make sure that the stop button on the top of the scanner or the disconnect button has been clicked or it wont let you add more data to the PID table.

got ya what will no tcc lockup do besides bad gas miliage? would it still do it in 3rd and 4th if you could somehow disable tcc lockup...i dont understand trannys yet and dont expect you to explain it to me...but just give me the best answer you can....would it burn up the clutches?

and the last question will going to the track burning out ect make this problem worse?

    if not what will?

ok i lied one more question...i have the option to get a intense shift kit shipped for 70 bucks shipped brand new...if you were to send and buld me a tranny would i be able to get good enough performance out of the transgo at the track or could my times improve any with the intense kit??

No lockup will also result in a lot more heat generated during commutes. One positive effect of the TC locking is it produces little heat.
