I'm getting ready to sell my 98 GTP; since I got the 04 GTP, I really have no reason to keep the older beauty.
Anyway, since I got it, it's had a kindof bucking issue. On cold start, most of the time it will stall unless you floor it from stop, and even then it'll buck a bit. It will do it the first 2 accelerations from stop or so, and then be alright for a while. Intermittently while driving it'll do the same thing from stop. In addition, sometimes when I've got the pedal down, the car will have difficulty shifting into second; then engine will get near redline, and then RPMs will go up and down for a bit, and then it'll shift. I know the transmission isn't in the best shape, and the fluid is a red-brown - but is the first issue related to the second? I had a buddy look at it real quick, and he said the first issue may be related to some filter getting carbon buildup on the intake, and he said it was relatively easy to get rid of.
The engine shows service soon, but it's been on for a while for the EGR. I'm going to get it read today to see if anything else is up. You guys have any ideas? If it's relatively easy to smooth the bucking, that'd be good.
I'm going to miss the body style of the 98, but the 04's interior is great. The 7-channel equalizer I'll miss, though.
