I'm not sure whats wrong, put a trans in recently and had a bad wobble. From what I had read and people had said I believed I had gotten a bad axle and was planning to replace it today. Drove to work and just before I got there something went on the trans. There was a loud bang (not the loudest I've ever heard though) and then no power coming from the trans. It won't move in any gear, even if I manually put it into 1,2,3. If I put the car into neutral the car won't move forward but will move backwards. If I put it into drive it will move forward but not backwards. I'm trying to get an idea of what it could be. Talked with Billboost and he mentioned it might be the input shaft. I was told when I bought this trans that it had been built before. I can not say for sure if it was but some of the parts I was told were in it was an input shaft, hardened 4th, new clutches, 3.29 gears. I know, I know, I know. I didn't check it out myself and thats my fault. I did an over view of it from what I could see and everything looked fine. Just looking for some input as to what it could be.

Did you lose a brake caliper bolt? The reason why I ask... is that I had a caliper bolt come out and the caliper rubbed the inside of the wheel... and gave the exact symptoms. I couldnt go forward, but could go in reverse.

There is nothing holding it back, its just that something let go and isn't attached anymore.

haven't dropped the pan. Just got it home today and while putting it on the tow dolly ended up destroying the front bumper. I'm pretty pissed off and don't even feel like looking at it today. Need a night to cool off because I will destroy more if I try anything. Tomorrow I plan on taking a look at it after work and seeing what I can find. No fluid is leaking and nothing is making any kind of sound even when in gear or not.

Not from what I can tell. I'm not sure what an axle should look like when it breaks but I can only imagine it would be visually apparent that it broke and I don't see that at all. Tonight I plan to check it out a little further but after all the **** that happened yesterday I couldn't even stand to look at my car.

Jack it up and spin the wheel and see if the inner and outer parts of the axle both spin.

UPDATE: Lifted up the front end, checked and when in park both wheels locked together and spun. If you put the car into drive and spin one wheel the other does not do that. The other one does not do anything. I'm going to pull the diff first thing on Saturday and see what that looks like. If that's toast I'm going to pull the pan and see what that has to offer as well.

FWIW, we checked ISS and it was in line with the engine rpm. Input shaft is good. Mike is pulling the diff because both wheels went the same way when spun.

    here's hoping it's a totally fragged diff.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Update 2ull the diff, it appears to be fine? I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for and a what I see are a few brownish areas but nothing blue that looks like its been heated up to much. Also all the gears turn fine. I tried to spin the output shaft and it was secured to the other wheel so that looks fine. What is the shaft on the outside of that?
