Well, I broke down and sent the car in to have the tranny pulled and a low mile used one put in. Bought a low mile tranny from Morad Parts and had it shipped to me...... Price was decent for the miles.
Wanted to originally do it myself, but the time is never there for me to do it.
Bought a new VSS, Torque Converter, solid motor mount, tranny mount, oil pan gasket (since it's leaking, and it will be right there easy to change with everything dropped ), trans filter and gasket, and tranny fluid. Man that crap is expensive. Over $100 for just the fluid!

Anyways, the car has 185k on it, so I'm not too concerned with the used tranny. When the motor goes I'm swapping to SC'd. with a rebuilt trans from TrannyMan!

Hope all goes well with this trans!!! As soon as it comes out of the shop, I'm taking it on a road trip....

Hopefully it will be done Mon. or Tues.

When I bought the car, the trans started acting up within a week. RPMs fluctuating at steady hwy speeds. When I stop at a light and push firmly on the gas pedal, the car started to shudder and feel like it was kicking in and out of gear. Shifts were hard too. Whined like a mother as well. Thought it was the PS pump until I took the belt off and started the car.... it wasnt the PS pump. Oh well..... it's paid for..... and a money pit. I almost have a brand new used car

    Seems like a lot. HA

I just stopped at the shop to check on the car. Everything is out. The drivers side axle needed to be replaced. It was seized in the tranny they said. Poor bastard car. I'm ready to give it up for adoption......

I am getting a heavy discount on the R&R, and it seems like the mechanics don't really like me now. Guess they are using my car as fill in work. Working on it little at time in between other jobs or slow days.
    Pic of no trans:

And I did a visual inspection under the car to see what else looked off. Came across this:

Nice and bent drivers side trailing arm. Nice.......

have you backed over anything? or has the car been in a accident? looking at the picture it looks like the wheel is farther forward then it should be. I would look for fresh scrap marks on the arm. the shop could have positioned the lift arms wrong and lifted on the trailing arm and bent it.

You can see the rust where the paint chipped off, it's been like that for a while.

Finally got the car back today. Trans put in. New mounts. New filters. New converter. New fluids (duh)

So, I finally get to feel what "normal" shifting feels like. Awesome. Now it's time for an 800 mile road trip (one way) to test it out. Thank goodness for roadside assistance and towing on the insurance. Hope I don't have to use them.....

I know the manager and workers, so I bartered for $400 worth of detailing...... pretty much wash/wax/shampoo the courtesy van and detail/polish the managers truck a few times.... easy work.

Many shops quoted $400-800 for R&R

Just good to know people I guess.

Just made the trip, I'm in Missouri right now til Monday. Trip was fine, car ran perfect. I actually get better gas mileage. Fancy that.
I did about 60 miles and tried to put the cruise on, and well, it wasn't working.
Pulled over, and it seems the shop didn't connect the cable, So I connected it. Drove it, and it didn't work. Popped the hood and the cable was off again. Guess they broke the little plastic piece that connects to the throttle deal. (at the end of the cable.) I had some super glue and some plastic zip ties I found on the ground and fabbed something up to fix it til I get back. Works damn good for a side of the road fix with junk... lol.
