Tranny Flush

I was wondering how do you know when to do a transmission flush? I checked the fluid color and its not red anymore its a little darker but my tranny has been acting a little funny lately,its not often but when I'm going thru gears it kinda lags going into 2nd gear or 4th but its very seldom like I said. I don't wanna jump to conclusions on my transmission going up but just wondering could this be a sign of me needing a flush

I flush every 25k and filter change at 50k Some will disagree but I havent had a trans die in any of my cars

Have you ever done a flush or pan drop on your car? If not then I would flush it then drop the pan and change the filter.

Well this is my 2nd tranny,I got this 1 put in around 2008 and yea I put miles on it (45k) so hopefully this fixes the problem...

People always neglect the trans fluid changes I look at it like this A flush is 65-125 bucks depending on where you go But it beats the hell out of a trans swap

my trans fluid was darker than usual and I went in at nearly 70 thou KMS. I had to get some other work on the tranny done and I just had them drop and flush aswell. I did not have any issues before, but it sure was smooth when I got it back. Could barely feel the shifts after getting flushed. I would read the manual and see when it is recomended or just decide to get it done and stick to a regiment, every 40 thou, 50 thos, 25 thou whatever u choose but just start doin it

My issue with taking it in to get it flushed is that the new fluid requires higher pressure and "may" cause seals to leak. That is if the tranny hasn't been maintained and the fluid looks more like oil then red fluid.

That being said in this case I would drop the pan change the filter and refill with proper fluid then add a can of trans X or similar to help keep the seals soft and then drive it and for the next change I would get it flushed provided there is no leaking. That is just my $0.02.

Are you guys using Merc III or V when you do the changes?

New fluid will not raise the pressures.

I change my tranny fluid every 30 miles with the filter, didn't have a problem until some 1&2 gear went. Had it rebuilt and it went out again after 10k, but the company was no longer in business, so watch out for shady companies.

Sorry for the terms I used. The pressure will not change, but the ability for the seals to hold the new fluid can/does. That is my concern.
