used trans- code p0730

I rebuild transmissions for a living and know what this code is. bought this 98 gtp with a bad trans. My shop is SWAMPED so in a time crunch i decided to buy a used unit from a guy claiming rebuilt 1000 miles ago. otherwise i would have to pull mine and put the frame back up and roll it until ihad time to build it. asking price was only about 100$ above what it was to rebuild mine. i get there and the code is KN or KR i dont remember. ID showed it was a regular 3.1L 4T65e from a century or something. but its got the bigger differential and correct converter pattern. He says its been behind 2 GTP motors and never threw a code. must have been a core they swapped the right parts into. i take it under the agreement that if i get the code i can bring it back. low and behold 2 days after driving i get the code. after reading several threads on this some say you can "reprogram" the computer to not throw the code? how and who does this? altho the guy will give me my money back i now have to rebuild mine and exchange it and then drive 2hrs to return it. avoidable would be nice

I know what my problem is. As I said i build transmissions for a living and have seen this code. I bought a used trans that someone claimed was a GTP unit but must indeed be a 3.29 unit with a swapped diff because it takes the bigger right side axle. My question was is it easy enough to reprogram the comp or should i pull it and return it.
