Sorry to see that man.![]()
I’m having a B-M moment, just so happens T.E.P. is offering off-season discounts now. I guess trannys break more in the summer.![]()
Any issues before finding that other than complete failure?![]()
well here's what went down...
I noticed when it was really cold my tranny would slip in first gear. the only way i can describe it for those who haven't experienced that is if you had a manual tranny, and you pushed the clutch half way in and then gave it a lot of gas. Makes a lot of noise and sounds fast but doesn't really go anywhere. Once the fluid warmed up it would stop. So I decided I'd get a flush and switch to Dextron VI. And when my mechanic and I got the bottom pan off, that's wat we found. I gotta say on the bright side, we went ahead and did the flush. This morning it was the coldest its been all year and NO slipping at all. I estimate 6 months b4 I'll have to change it but I'm hoping for a year.
Haha gm recomends every 50k miles. It definately made a difference. No more slipping : )
I'm at 120k and I don't think it's ever had a flush, I'm afraid to do it though cuz I heard if it goes that long without one doing it can shock the tranny.
Had my fluid and filter changed at about 65k on it, car has never driven the same since. Tranny shifted hard as soon as the change was done, now with over 100k on it and another fluid and filter change it slips in almost every gear. Time for a rebuild, might as well do it right and for kicks throw a Turbo kit on as well!
ya ive heard that can happen. I used dextron vi full synthetic so it was expensive but I think it's worth it. if it wouldn't have been slipping i probably wouldn't have had it changed, but it definitely seems to have helped so im happy spending the money.
...yeah of course you change your fluid! mobil 1 ftw. with a bottle of lucas oil tranny fixer
Exaclty what I did after I blew a diff while training in Alabama. This trans was built once before. I put filter mobil 1 synthetic and a bottle of lucas in it. So far I drove the car from Alabama to Minnesota and then from Minnesota to Ft. Sill Ok in July. I think Ive got around 15k on it since the diff blew. I will use a bottle of lucas and synthetic every time I change the fluid. No issues since. I was happy not to find any shavings in the last trans filter I pulled when the new diff went in. So far so good.![]()
Lucas ftw!
Yeah this is why I'm still not sure, I always get mixed opinions. I always get some people saying do it it's fine and some that say don't do it it ****ed up my car.
Hey, see the sludge on your magnet? Mine had that as well when i changed mine. The mechanic said its normal?
